Objective: Presenters will introduce the 8 Practices of Science Education adapted from the Science Framework for K-12 Science Education as the design principles behind this ICT-enabled practice. Presenters will also demonstrate the effective use of Tracker, a video analysis tool, for analysis and interpretation of phenomena and in-depth model building. Participants will be oriented to the Tracker Shared Library where available models for physics concepts such as free fall, projectile motion, frictional motion and collision model can be found. By the end of the session, participants should be able to: - Describe in detail at least one of the 8 practices of K12 science education framework - Download, install and use tracker basic analysis - Create at least one model in tracker for Practice 5 (mathematical and computational thinking) Preferred Participants: Upper Secondary Physics Other Requisites: NA | Media Dsgn & Tech For Learning,ETD,MOE | 2.5 Hr(s) | 04/02/2015 (PM Session) | 30 | $0.00 | undefined |

Objective: In this workshop, teachers will learn about the brief history of Arduino, the basics behind the software and hardware. Teachers will also learn and explore the Arduino microprocessor platform through a guided and hands-on experience. Finally, they will learn about how the platform can be implemented in schools to support or enhance the curriculum. By the end of the session, participants should be able to: 1) Write a basic working sketch on the Arduino IDE 2) Understand how the circuitry/hardware introduced works 3) Understand how it can be used to support/enhance curriculum Preferred Participants: All Secondary Science Other Requisites: NA | Media Dsgn & Tech For Learning,ETD,MOE | 3 Hr(s) | 09/02/2015 (PM Session) | 20 | $0.00 | undefined |
INTRODUCTION TO ARDUINO Overview:Learn about Arduino, an open-source electronics platform that promotes interactivity in projects. Objective:In this workshop, teachers will learn about the brief history of Arduino, the basics behind the software and hardware. Teachers will also learn and explore the Arduino microprocessor platform through a guided and hands-on experience. Finally, they will learn about how the platform can be implemented in schools to support or enhance the curriculum.
By the end of the session, participants should be able to:
1) Write a basic working sketch on the Arduino IDE
2) Understand how the circuitry/hardware introduced works
3) Understand how it can be used to support/enhance curriculum Content:1. Brief history of Arduino
2. Basic introduction to the software and hardware (Arduino board)
3. Introduction to some basic components with hands-on activities. Components would include LEDs, buzzers, light dependent resistors and servo motors.
4. A basic introduction to some other components that could be used in the Science curriculum such as a pH meter, moisture sensor or ultrasonic sensor could be included but without the hands-on activities due to time constraint.
5. Sharing of how it is being implemented in schools.

Feedback
What do you like best about this session?
- I think the stuff shared was very useful.
- The software is powerful
- This is the "Holy Grail" of video analysis and tracking....finally something that is teacher / user friendly.
- Physics still but open for expansion.Open source is also a good platform for further development
- Hands-on session is useful
- Ability to infuse video and kinematics brings the learning experience closer to the students, making it personal and realistic. The willingness to share the resources.
- Practical hands on session Ready resources
- the hands on session
- The hands on session on how to use the Tracker tool to teach the concept of Kinematics and Forces. Even extending to Energy!
- REady library
- i have learnt something new which i think is good for advance students.
- Thank you so much for sharing such a rich amount of resources. I am very impress and happy to see a strong learning community. Kudos to all the trainers who started this journey. Will definitely use this for lesson and share if my colleagues and I created more resources. Thanks again.
- Hands on experience with tracker, relevant examples online sharing of resources
- Hands on, and many suggestions for lesson application
What are some areas of improvement for this session?
- Some handouts would be useful.
- Too short a duration to appreciate the software.
- We were told to bring our SSOE Notebook but were not told to install the software.
- Soooo many things sooooo little time
- provide step-by-step guide
- na
- Longer duration
- not long enough
- Nil.
- Perhaps do a live videoing

- No response
- Instructor had good knowledge and gave good examples
- Great......They are all well versed into the tools they are using.
- No response
- The instructor is very knowledgeable in his content area.
- No response
- well organised, substantial resources are shared generously.
- I was very impressed with the software. It is a very good tool for students to relate the concept of Kinematics to real life. Abstract concepts can be made understood very easily.
