What difference the award made to your life, to your project, and to your institution;
The award has promoted greater awareness, both locally and internationally, on our work in Open Source Physics @ Singapore. The project is part of Ministry of Education, Singapore, (MOE)’s ongoing work in ICT in education where we explore new possibilities to improve teaching and learning with technology.The recognition from the award also paves the way for further collaboration amongst various stakeholders to advance the use of simulations and modelling in Physics education.
How you decided to use the 25,000USD;
The Ministry of Education (MOE), Singapore, is focused on providing our children with a balanced and well-rounded education to develop them to their full potential. Towards this end, the prize money has been placed into a special account managed by MOE to support the learning needs of our students and enhance the teaching of our teachers.What are your next challenges.
1. MOE will continue to deepen our work in OSP@SG and promote further use of these resources in Singapore schools.2. MOE will also continue to experiment and explore new ways of teaching and learning with technology through our innovation projects.

what difference the award made to your life, to your project, and to your institution;
The award has created further opportunities in the Fourth MasterPlan (mp4) for ICT (Information and communication Technologies), leaded by the Educational Technology Division (ETD) , Ministry of Education, to share the vision of "future-ready and responsible digital learner", using Open Source Physics @ Singapore OSP@SG project as an innovation experimentation.This award has given Singaporeans an easier time to understand the advancement made by ETD in terms of use of technology in education for meaningful learning as OSP@SG-ETD's work has already been integrated into the National curriculum, strengthen networked learning communities, seed innovation across schools and cultivate socio-cultural ecosystem for partnership with our stakeholders.
how you decided to use the 25,000USD;
The prize money is given to Ministry of Education, Educational Technology Division for which the funds will be made available to officers in ETD to conduct research, attend professional development program (workshop and conference etc).what are your next challenges.
- Foreground and streamline OSP@SG into the four approaches in mp4 (1. Deeper ICT integration in curriculum,assessment and pedagogy, 2. Sustained professional learning, 3. Translational research innovation and scaling and 4. Connected ICT learning ecosystem). This is a challenge as other projects have already been shouldering the responsibility for the vision of "future-ready and responsible digital learner".
- Building up the professional development of more ETD officers/specialists to take up more responsibility within the OSP@SG project and expanding this team into the larger umbrella of Open Educational resources (OER), a term first coined at UNESCO in 2002, for an inclusive educational system for the world.

what difference the award made to your life, to your project, and to your institution;
The award has created further opportunities for linking people (Ministry of Education policy makers, schools leaders, teachers leaders and students) to the idea of Open Educational Resources OER@SG through Open Source Physics @ Singapore OSP@SG project. This link captures some of recent the happenings on OER@SGhow you decided to use the 25,000USD;
The prize money is given to Ministry of Education, Educational Technology Division for which the funds will be made available to officers in ETD to conduct research, attend professional development program (workshop and conference etc).what are your next challenges.
Increase the impact and number of Singapore and UNESCO users and contributors to the idea of Open Educational Resources especially what the Open Source Physics @ Singapore project can offer.The challenges are:
- Building a team of creators of OSP@SG simulations for different subjects such as Chemistry, Mathematics, different levels such as K1-6 Primary and K7-10 Secondary. Template is provided ejss_src_lookangtemplate.zip . Below is an example of a mathematics simulation for Primary School level.
Part Part Whole Primary Math Model - Translation to as many languages as possible of the OSP@SG simulations for global benefits. Guide to do translation is provided here.
- Re creating older Java simulation to newer Javascript HTML5 simulations for mobilizing learning anywhere, any device (Android and iOS). Guide is provided here
Also, if you had any photos of you, working, and/or taken on your workplace to share, I would be more happy to receive them.
