1st Message Box when the simulation is started:

(1) Choose the Metal and Non-metal for the ionic compound.

<Leave 1 line>

(2) Then refer the Periodic Table below to determine the number of electrons in the

atoms.

Note: Bold the text to make it clearer.

The text box should always appear in the centre of the screen.

If the number of electrons selected is correct:

Correct!

<Leave 1 line>

(1) Drag the electron (● / x) from the legend onto the boxes in the diagram.

<Leave 1 line>

(2) Then click the dotted square brackets.

If the number of electrons selected is wrong:

Incorrect!

<Leave 1 line>

Refer the Periodic Table below to determine the number of electrons in the atom.

When all is completed and the student click the “Check” button…

If Correct:

Correct!

<Leave 1 line>

Choose another Metal and Non-metal for a new ionic compound.

If Wrong:

Incorrect!

<Leave 1 line>

Hint 1: How many electrons must the atom gain or lose to become stable?

<Leave 1 line>

Hint 2: How many positive ions and negative ions are needed so that the total

positive charge cancels the total negative charge.
