Journaling so that there can be a record for my action with my kid in Beatty sec. A great start and encouraging encounters with the school!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We welcome our Sec 1 students and welcome back our Sec 2-5 students!
On Tuesday, I spoke with our children about seeing far and starting right. In addition to explaining what it means to be adaptive thinkers, agile learners and active contributors, I unpacked our values, specifically focusing on Discipline and Resilience.
Beattyians build discipline by taking small steps, dedicating their time to reflection, and watching the impact of their words and actions. When they exercise these three elements, they will find joy and ultimately success in all that they do.
Beattyians build resilience by embracing a sense of venture by seeking fresh approaches to their difficulties, relishing any challenge to become stronger and overcoming their difficulties by using these moments as a chance for growth. When they exercise these three elements, they will be able to turn challenges into opportunities for personal development.
I trust that Beattyians will use these handles as a guide in all that they do, be it in CCA, leadership, or academic work. It is about having them focus on developing self-awareness, self-management, and self-determination.
We used the first week to introduce critical skills. Beattyians engaged in note-making, mind-mapping and science of learning workshops designed to enhance their learning techniques. In addition, they explored tuning-in and journalling, specifically to understand how these activities would enhance self-awareness and self-regulation, elements crucial for their development and well-being.
We must reinforce this by nudging them through conversation. I encourage you to engage in conversations with your child about their first week. Ask them about a new skill they have learned or a moment they felt proud of, helping them reflect and apply these valuable lessons.
I look forward to working with you to nurture every Beattyian to become an adaptive thinker, agile learner, and active contributor. Keep well and have a joyful 2024!
