While SLS may not natively support real-time collaborative document editing akin to Google Docs, it provides integration with Google Workspace tools, enabling such functionality working on the same Google doc at the same time using Assignment

1. Google Workspace Integration:

SLS allows teachers to embed and assign Google Files (Docs, Sheets, Slides) within the platform. This integration enables students to collaborate on these documents in real-time. To utilize this feature:​learning.moe.edu.sg

• For Teachers:
  • Link your iCON 2.0 or Google account with SLS as using "teacher as student", this will allow you to test as student which is another SLS account with also need same or another Google Link setup. So teacher need to link twice, teacher link to embed google doc, student to test the collaborate features at the same time with other students.
  • Link your iCON 2.0 or Google account with SLS as teacher, this will allow you to set Google doc in your own Google drive as a teacher.

  • In the Module Editor, select an activity, hover over 'Text/Media,' choose 'Google File,' and then 'Add File' or 'Embed File.'​learning.moe.edu.sg+1learning.moe.edu.sg+1
  • Alternatively, within a 'Free-Response' question, you can select 'Google Response' to attach a Google File.​learning.moe.edu.sg
  • Assign the module to students; each student will receive a personal copy of the file for editing.​learning.moe.edu.sg+1learning.moe.edu.sg+1 But this is not same time collaboration. Read below for more details.
  • The trick is to setup a team within which only the student team members can edit on the same document at the same time simultaneously. But only one student need to submit on SLS for the team mark awarded by teacher.

• For Students:
  • Link your iCON 2.0 or Google account with SLS.
  • Access the assigned Google File through SLS.​learning.moe.edu.sg+2learning.moe.edu.sg+2learning.moe.edu.sg+2
  • Collaborate in real-time with peers directly within the document, this is provided the teacher setup the Teams in the assignment and SLS will allow any student in the Assignment Teams to edit the same Google doc, slides etc​learning.moe.edu.sg+3bynder.com+3reddit.com+3
  • After completing the work, submit it through SLS for teacher review.​learning.moe.edu.sg+5learning.moe.edu.sg+5Lindenwood University+5
  • The teacher then can mark as Google doc or PDF and it will be a separate document for which student can see the Teachers' marking either by stylus or typing etc.

2. SLS Collaborative Tools:

Beyond Google integration, SLS offers built-in collaborative features:​

• Class Group Forum: Facilitates discussions, idea sharing, and peer feedback. Teachers can create topics and polls, and students can participate by posting comments.​learning.moe.edu.sg

• Interactive Thinking Tools (ITT): Allows students to collaboratively brainstorm and organize ideas within SLS modules.​

Teachers can incorporate these tools into their modules to enhance collaborative learning but these are not same time collaboration like Google doc. ​
