ideas to explore when time permits
current situation
Teacher spends a lot of time finding useful resources and even when found, there is little or no way to modify the resource to suit personal teaching needs.
proposed change
Teacher uses physical hands-on and interactive technologies, list of learning tasks generated by AI(artificial intelligence) with HI (human intelligence) to modify and align resources.
solution
Teacher will be recommended with learning tasks (cut outs, interactives, games etc) by AI generator with opportunities to make edits via human community assistance.
AI+Human partnership
AI recommended and human created new tasks such as the new
tangram with area and perimeter concept,
area of trapezium simulator,
special function simulator,
constant speed and average speed simulator
that is curriculum aligned and not just another game on the internet repurpose for learning by the way.
The recommender AI engine should act like an ‘expert’ to recommend top 3 tasks such as a) pedagogical sound (cut out paper and show angles in a triangle add up to 180 degrees), b) appropriate (use tools that bring out the concepts visually) tasks and c) radical activities (singing, dancing, activities in the canteen, VR goggles to learn equations etc) but maybe effective.
Next Steps
Develop the technical solution👷
Computer scientist to co-develop a working prototype (in SLS (need for tasks, user data etc) website or chatbot depends on scientist’s suggestion?) with team to codify the revisions with the team. The advantage is we get to work concretely instead of using humans to act as the AI task generator and theoritize the possible AI parameters and solutions.
Recommendation AI engine should reside in SLS, and able to crawl OPAL and internet.
Human experts will co-develop with teachers and customised the tasks to have high learning gains, fuss-free to use and effective use of time.
