Inquire: Students are confident citizens and active inquirers, poised to explore the world around them, develop safe and ethical Practices of Science using technology.
Inspire: Students become lifelong and motivated learners and contributing citizens who can make sound evidence-based decisions.
2021 Syllabus
The aims of the G1 Lower Secondary Science Syllabus are to
Develop 21st century competencies in students which would enable them to apply critical and inventive thinking to identify and solve problems; communicate and collaborate with others effectively; and show care and concern for people and the environment. Guide students in acquiring knowledge, skills and values for application in their daily lives such that they are motivated to learn science through contextualised and hands-on learning;
Become confident citizens who are able to make sound decisions tapping on science and technology; develop safe and ethical practices; and understand the use of ICT and appropriate tools for scientific inquiry and analysis of issues.
Prepare students for future learning and work such that they become lifelong and motivated learners; and develop skills which are useful and relevant for them to be contributing citizens.
2021 Syllabus
The aims of the G2/G3 Lower Secondary Science syllabuses are to: Cultivate students’ appreciation of Science as a collective human endeavour to understand the natural world, and as a way of thinking rather than just a body of facts. Inspire students to make informed decisions and take responsible actions in science-related issues that concern their lives, the society and the environment. Help students develop in fundamentals that are integral to scientific inquiry and innovation, including problem-seeking and problem-solving.
